We have eight different sessions ready to share with you! At each session you will discover a new skill or way to teach/learn the concept by playing games, using materials, and how to integrate these ideas into everyday learning.
In each session, you will receive the game or one of the materials that we use during the class. Additional materials will be available for purchase if desired.

Counting Collections and Cocktail Party! - Want to increase your child’s (students’) numeracy in just minutes? Add the simple routine of Counting Collections to your day. We will share lots of different ways to do this and each participant will leave with a starter kit.
July 12, 2024 - 6:00 - 7:00
Number recognition and sequencing - Counting is just the first step in building a solid foundation. Learn with us to discover the power of sequencing and other simple tools and tasks to increase your child’s mathematizing!

July 18, 2024 - 3:00 - 4:00
Practicing facts to 20 - Fluency… what is that exactly? We can show you how to help your child become truly fluent in facts to 10, then to 20 by using a special tool called a “rekenrek” (or a bead rack). This is NOT an abacus, it has a different purpose and will help you and your child learn how to add those numbers faster in your head!

Base Ten/Place Value - Each numeral has a value based on it’s place in the number, but what does that really mean? Base Ten is the foundation of our numeral system. Let’s learn different ways to build that foundation through understanding how the patterns of our base-ten system work.
Base Ten: A Number with no Value - Place value is more than just the “place” of the number. We will learn about Arrow Cards and how they help students make the connection to the actual “value” of each numeral. We will also discuss how to use a 100 chart to find patterns.
July 16, 2024 - 11:30 - 12:30
July 25, 2024 - 2:30 - 3:30
Base Ten: Magnitude of Number - What’s the difference between a 100 chart and a number line? Let’s talk about that! Using Numeral Tiles and a tool called a Numeral Roll, we will work on magnitude of number and building value as numbers grow.
July 16, 2024 - 1:30 - 2:30
July 25, 2024 - 4:00 - 5:00
Base Ten: Tools for Double Digits - How important is skip counting when adding and subtracting? Let’s learn how to do double digit addition and subtraction using craft sticks and pony beads to help us along the way.
